Hands-On in Lipedema Surgery

General Goal:
To train surgeons in the safe and effective surgical treatment of lipedema using modern liposuction techniques grounded in anatomy and best practices.

Specific Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate lipedema from other adipose disorders and define surgical indications.
  • Mark surgical zones precisely (thighs, calves, ankles, arms) based on anatomical and lymphatic considerations.
  • Perform tumescent infiltration tailored for lipedema.
  • Execute liposuction using appropriate cannulas and techniques that preserve lymphatics.
  • Handle large-volume fluid management and postoperative care.
  • Anticipate and manage intraoperative challenges and complications.
